Shelley Hocknell The driving force behind Hocknell's work is
the 'tenuous relationship of mind and body' which she expresses in dramatic
and dynamic climbing pictures. In these unique and highly original works
the observer can feel the climbers strength and control, allowing the
artist to impart the idea of the co-operative bond between people and
their environment which is far more than just clinging to the sheer face
of existence.
The experimental nature of these exciting pictures, supported by sound
mark-making, has led to considerable interest amongst critics and collectors,
and exhibitions in many highly regarded galleries, establishing Hocknell
as one of Britains finest young artists. This artist is willing to consider
