Sonja Benskin Mesher
The work is abstract. It is concerned with paint and memory. Chosen and found media lead the work into a place where memory is revived, and allowed to breathe. The space between the work and remembrance is seamless. The images are layered, textured and gilded in their making, using a dialogue of shape and colour to invoke reaction. I obsessively paint an image or shape again, and again for the exploration into the process of the work. The result is always different. The place where I work, both the studio and the environment affect the work profoundly, with its space and sense of freedom.
