AN ANTIDOTE TO THE GHASTLY TURNER PRIZE

31 artists exhibited 170 paintings
6 - 29 Nov 2008

View Two Gallery
23 Mathew St, Liverpool L2 6RE

This was an exhibition at Liverpool, of work by the controversial art movement known as
The Stuckists.

It was showing at the View Two Gallery at Liverpool. It was a striking display, with paintings covering the walls from floor to ceiling.

Works by two Welshpaintings artists, Jacqueline Jones and John Bourne, were included in the exhibition.

The Stuckists are quite often featured on Welshpaintings, because Stuckism is a strong supporter of the art of painting, and a number of Welshpaintings artists are Stuckists or have links with Stuckism. This does not necessarily mean that Welshpaintings endorses everything every aspect of Stuckism. This is an opportunity to gain some impression of the exhibition and of this radical art group, which demonstrates against the Turner Prize at Tate Britain every December.

There was some sexually explicit work in the exhibition.

The View Two Gallery in Mathew Street is an excellent gallery, and the staff are most helpful to artists and public alike.
